Transcendence

A multimedia art project  2022 – 2025

Transcendence is a compilation or a synergy of different media that revolves around transcendence as an actionA composition of multimedia work that touches on the narrow borderline between Spiritualism and Materialism. A state of doing and redoing and repetition as an endless loop of physical action that leads to a transcendence with thoughts and imagination. I find this very area an interesting reflection of that shared zone of spirituality and materialism.

The main object was designed as a functional object to work as a frame for making large paintings. By time this used to be a functional frame became the artwork after it has lost its functionality. Which I add to the series of “Nicht Gebraucht Kunst”, art of none-useable. (An ongoing conceptual series).

The minimal aesthetic of the frame as a three dimensional artwork led me to create a series of sixteen charcoal drawings on paper. An animation sequence of full circle of the object around itself which emerged with an exploration of emptiness, where the erased or voided spaces within the charcoal are the subject, conceptualizing absence and presence in artistic expression.

The digital animation is the digital end of the charcoal sequence, which connects to my practice in digital animation making. Part of a series I call it “Chronoanimation”

The video is a documentation of using the frame as a functional objectI had to finish a large painting for an immersive installation every day, started my day by removing the painting from the day before, stretching a new one, and painting on it before going to sleep. This layered video documentation, which includes three layers of time in the same space, the repetition of the same action in the different layers starts to appear as harmonic abstract choreography, where the intention of the action is lost in the loop.
